Mr Kumar drives to work at an average speed of 48 km per hour. The time taken to cover the first 60% of the distance is 10 minutes more than the time taken to cover the remaining distance. How far is his office?
(a) 30 km (b) 40 km (c) 45 km (d) 48 km
Solution:
Let the distance be x.
First 60% distance is covered in 10 more minutes more time than that of the rest 40% distance
=> 0.6*x distance is covered in 10 more minutes more than that of the rest 0.4*x distance
=> 0.2*x is covered in 10 minutes ie., 1/6 hr
=> average speed = distance/time = 0.2*x/(1/6) = 48
=> x = 48/6*0.2 =40 km

In this arrangement, W becomes the bottom face and B becomes the top one. So the face opposite to W is B.

Three views of a cube following a particular motion are given below:
What is the letter opposite to A?

Solution: 
A cube has 6 faces and the faces from the three views of the cube are:
A,B,H,K,M,P
For any face, four faces are adjacent and the non-touching face is it’s opposite face.
From the first view, two adjacent faces of K are: A and B
From the second view, two adjacent faces of K are: H and M
So, all the four adjacent faces of K are: A,B,H and M => face opposite to K is P
Like wise, from first and third views, the adjacent faces of B are: A,K,H and P
=> The opposite face of B is M
So, by now, we have got two of the three oppositely-faced pairs: K-P and B-M
The remaining oppositely-faced pair is A-H

Two glasses of equal volume are respectively half and three fourths filled with milk. They are then filled to the brim by adding water. Their contents are then poured into another vessel. What will be the ratio of milk to water in this vessel?

Solution:
“Two glasses of equal volume” => let that volume be X
Respective milk content = 0.5X and 0.75X
Respective water content added = 0.5X and 0.25X
After pouring into another vessel, total milk content = 0.5X+0.75X =1.25 X
After pouring into another vessel, total water content = 0.5X+0.25X = 0.75X
Ratio of milk to water = 1.25:0.75 = 125:75 = 5:3

Which one of the following conclusions can be drawn from the above statements?

Solution:
From the first statement, it can be concluded that “only rich can afford air travel”, which can also be expressed as “all those who travel by air are rich”. Option(a) is wrong but option(d) is right.
From the first statement, we can say that only some of those who travel by air become sick, but not all. So option(b) can be eliminated.
Some of the rich travel by air and out of them some may become sick. But not all the rich become sick. So option(c) can be eliminated.

Which one of the following inferences can be drawn from the above statements?

Solution:
We should be careful with the words ‘all’, ‘none’ etc.,
Option(a) is extreme. It’s not mentioned any where in the question stem that all machines are run by electricity. So option(a) is out.
Option(b) is also extreme in the sense that there is no energy form other thanelectricity. It’s also out.
Option(c): we can’t infer on the count or extent of machines operated on electric energy. The given statements emphasize on the advantages of electric energy and no clue on the number of machines operated on that form of energy. It’s also out.
Option(d) => Given the advantages of the  electric energy, we can infer that those machines which use electric energy are preferable.

Option(b): All the X-brand cars parked are of white colour and some of which have radial tyres. So the conclusion that “some white X-brand cars with radial tyres are parked here” is correct.
Option(c): In the given statements, it’s mentioned about X-brand cars having radial tyres. But nothing is mentioned about the other brands and hence we can’t conclude anything about that. This option is out
Option(d): In the given statements, it’s mentioned the cars manufactured after 1986 have radial tyres. But nothing is mentioned about the quantity of them and hence we can’t conclude whether there are most number of such cars or not. Thisoption is out

Option(c) is wrong because as per statement (2), only some of the members are married but not all.
